I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. Psalm 119:30
Among all the choices I have made in my life, the choice to follow Christ, Yahushua, was the most life changing and soul saving. My soul saw the goodness of Christ and yearned for it. I chose the “way of faith” as the Targum puts it. I knew from a young age that Yahushua was the light of the world. I never questioned, not once, who He was. I knew it down to my bones and I have loved Him since I was a child. It is His presence in my life that molded my choices to love instead of hate, to forgive instead of seek revenge and to live to please our Holy Father Yahuah. He is the way, the truth and the life and He is the only way we get to the Father. I have lived in that truth in childlike faith all the years of my life and I have never regretted it. Even at 49 years old, my faith remains childlike.
Some have asked what it has gotten me in the here and now. Why choose truth and live against the grain of this world? What do I get out of it? My friends, that answer could take years to explain all the good that is my life, even in turbulent times. It is in those darkest moments that I need and see the light of Christ. I find myself at peace and moving forward in full trust that good is not only coming, but it can be found in my current circumstance. I can see that because not only do I choose truth but I live in it. I am not exempt from pain and sorrow because I believe in the truth, instead, I am able to maneuver through each hardship because that truth sets me free in every difficult circumstance.
The truth is, we all are going to struggle. We are all going to find ourselves in bad circumstances. This life is not one of perfection. There will be days, months and sometimes years of suffering we will go through before the dust clears and we get a glimpse of calm and peace in our lives. Some will battle cancer. Others depression. Some will battle neglect and abuse. These are dark circumstances of this world that do now just disappear over night but by choosing to cling to the truth, to Christ, there will always be peace and hope navigating those crises with us. We simply have to choose the truth and live in it every moment of every day.
How do we choose the truth? We are bombarded with constant chaos right now. I would even venture to say unprecedented chaos. We are in the middle of a pandemic, here in the United States we are engulfed in chaos through riots, protests, and racial discord. Hatred is fueling the fire and the media fills our cups with uncertainty and despair. There is no time better than now to choose truth and live in it!
- Live in faith, not fear. There are many actions that come from living in the truth and fear is not one of them. Fear comes from the world. It comes from the devil and the chaos around us right now is all part of his plan to get us to live in fear. Fear is how he wins. Faith is how Yahuah wins and it is how we live in peace. A peace that surpasses all understanding in a world of chaos. When we choose faith we choose peace and the words “Covid”, “Race war”, “Civil war” and so on do not negatively affect us. We have the peace of the Father in us and we live day to day in peace and seeing the good instead of the bad.
- Trust in the Father. This is definitely a choice we have to make. The majority, if not all of us, have trust issues. It can be difficult to trust in God’s word when all we see around us is darkness. Trust is the light that navigates us through the winding paths and valleys of darkness so that we can see the peace on the other side of it all. We have to make the choice to trust because we do not innately turn to it. No matter what you see and hear, choose to trust in the goodness of our Father.
- Take action. Making a choice to have faith is action but we need to take it one step further and go to the Father in prayer and supplication. We need to get on our knees or flat on our faces in the darkest moments of our lives and lay it all at the foot of the cross and give it to Yahushua. When we do, peace washes over us. Prayer is powerful. It is our best weapon against the darkness of this world.
My friends, we live in troubled times, but we have a peace that can only come from our Father. It is there for us all, at any time, we need only to choose it. Don’t believe the lies, seek the truth and let it set you free.
