Plenty of Room at the Table

“There is something to be said about space. Space is needed and perceived in many different ways. Sometimes we need space that is empty, void of noise, people and things. Other times we need a space filled with love, encouragement and the presence of loved ones. Then there are times that space gets filled with things that we enjoy or things that we don’t need, things that are required and things that are “just because “. One thing remains constant with sis e, it needs light. It needs light to see the love and encouragement. It needs light to see the emptiness. It needs light to see desires and hopes. No matter what space we desire, we need light to enjoy it. Without light, it’s just a dark space.

Jesus Christ is the light we need to fill our spaces. Today as I sit at my new “space” I watched the light gently engulf it when the blinds were opened and it made me think of all the times my space has been dark, but when I opened my heart to Christ He lit up my soul and changed my life. Whatever space you take up today… let His light fill it for you. Feel His presence and know you are loved”

This is a quote from my Facebook page from several days ago.  The theme of the table has stuck with me. I have meditated on the importance of the table and how Jesus spent His last supper at a table with His disciples. What a symbol the table is: one of unity.  On that night, Jesus and His disciples sat together in unity.  This morning it hit me, I need to sit at the table with Jesus.

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. (1 Corinthians 10:16–17) ESV

The word “participation” in the ESV version can also be read in the AMP version as “sharing” and “communion” in the ASV.  When we come to the table with Jesus we are sharing and communing with Him. We are participating spiritually with Jesus at His table and there is always plenty of room.

I have often referenced my journey with Jesus as a walk.  I am always walking with Him. This week I have realized its time to enter a season of nourishment.  It is a time to sit and eat a spiritual meal with Him. To break bread and have meaningful conversations with Him.  It’s time to meet Him at the table.
